Assumed Received Emails
Why do senders of emails assume that the recipient of an email has not only received the e-mail, read the email and has decided not to respond within the second the email is sent.
Point 1: Emails are not guaranteed to reach the recipient. There are many problems that stop the transmission of emails including “greylisting”
Point 2: If the sender asks for a “received receipt”, this only states that the ISP has received the email, not that the recipient has received the email.
Point 3: Received emails can be often marked as “Spam” and can be handled in numerous ways, depend on the ISP and how you set your Spam filters.
Point 4: “BT” for instance can filter the Spam into a spam folder that is usually only accessed by logging into the web based email system, I tend to use POP3 with my email client.
Point 5: The email client again has another set of rules on how it handles spam and can filter the spam into a separate folder or delete.
Point 6: Emails are more likely to be marked as Spam if they sent to multiple email address and/or contain links to other web pages.
Morale : If you send an email and no response is received, sending a follow up e-mail making accusations etc, then PLEASE check you facts first.
Spelling & Grammar
"The education secretary, Michael Gove, will promise a new focus on the traditional virtues of spelling and grammar when he sets out his plans for the teaching of English in primary schools later this week" - 10 June 2012
Question is: How can teachers, many of whom cannot spell adequately and have never been taught the intricacies of grammar, impart knowledge of these topics to young children? And yes I do have an example for a senior staff member at a school in Cambridgeshire.
I Quote (edited version) from an AST
"the new commitee, acertained the priorities and for recifying them, therefore hope that you will sort this issue and liase with"
Morale : Check and reread before sending
Micro-manage
When you find the management of a company starts to micro-manage the employees now is the time to look for your next job. The management have given up running the company and are just making life difficult for employees to reduce the redundancy costs.
Morale : Make sure your CV is up to date.
